Rabbiteye
Rabbiteye blueberries are generally best suited to warmer parts of New Zealand. They are vigorous and can cope with summer heat, but many ripen late and require a sufficiently long, warm autumn to finish their crop.
In North Canterbury, rabbiteye varieties are best treated as warm-site choices. Select a sunny, sheltered position protected from early autumn frosts and cold winds. Inland or frost-prone gardens may find that very late rabbiteye fruit does not always ripen fully.
