Shipping & Delivery: 

We deliver plants throughout New Zealand using NZ Post, local couriers and plant freight companies. 

Because plants vary in height, shape, pot size and weight, there isnt one standard delivery price. Our system uses the dimensions of the plant in your cart to select suitable packaging and calculate a shipping rate. 

Boxes Order with NZ Post

If your plants can travel safety in a box, we'll send them with NZ Post. We use several box sizes depending on the height and weight of the plants. 

Our boxes are designed to hold 6 plants, unless you are buying 5L plants which hold 4 plants 

How your NZ Post rate is calculated

We have loaded our plant and packaging dimensions into a system connected to NZ Post. When you enter your address at checkout, it uses this information to calculate a shipping rate for your order.

Occasionally, the automated rate can look unusually high or simply not look right. Please don’t abandon your order if this happens.

Contact us and we’ll check it manually. Depending on the plants, we may be able to pack or secure them differently, reduce the parcel size, or find a more suitable freight option.

When boxed orders are sent

We pack plants in the morning so they can usually be collected by the NZ Post truck at approximately 4pm.

We dispatch boxed plant orders from Monday to Thursday.

We don’t send plants on Fridays because we don’t want them sitting in transit over the weekend and drying out.

Larger Canterbury deliveries

For larger plants and orders within the Canterbury region, we may use Hanmer Cheviot Couriers.

They can collect from us and deliver to Christchurch on the same day, helping larger plants reach you quickly and safely. The best delivery method will depend on your location, the plants ordered and the available courier route.

Pallet deliveries

Large orders, larger grade PB18 - 14/25/35/45L plants that cannot travel safely in boxes may need to be delivered on a pallet.

A standard pallet can hold up to 49 3L plants in a single layer. Some suitable plants can be safely double- or triple-stacked, allowing more plants to travel on the same pallet.

The final capacity depends on the height, shape and strength of the plants. We will always pack them in the way that gives them the best chance of arriving safely.

We have pallet rates available for most parts of New Zealand. However, pallet freight prices can change frequently with the fuel adjustment factors impacting all freight providers. 

No rate—or does the rate look too high?

If checkout doesn’t show a shipping option, or the rate looks unusually high, please ask us for a freight quote.

We can check:

• Whether your plants can be packed more efficiently
• Whether NZ Post or a local courier would be more suitable
• Whether combining plants on a pallet offers better value
• Whether another delivery arrangement is available for your area

Picking up your plants

If pickup is available for your order, you can select it at checkout.

We’ll let you know when your plants are ready to collect from CJ’s Plant Farm in Amberley.
