Phormium Yellow Wave
Phormium Yellow Wave
Yellow Wave Flax, NZ Flax Plant
Phormium ‘Yellow Wave’ is a vibrant evergreen New Zealand flax known for its bright golden-yellow variegated foliage and graceful arching habit. This eye-catching variety brings year-round colour, texture and movement into the garden, making it an excellent choice for contemporary landscapes, coastal planting and feature borders.
Its broad flowing leaves display vivid yellow tones highlighted with soft green margins, creating a striking contrast against darker foliage plants and adding warmth to the landscape throughout every season. The naturally arching growth habit gives ‘Yellow Wave’ a softer, more flowing appearance than upright flax varieties while still delivering strong architectural structure.
Hardy and adaptable, this NZ flax performs exceptionally well across New Zealand conditions and tolerates wind, coastal exposure and dry periods once established. During summer, mature plants may produce tall flower spikes carrying nectar-rich blooms that attract tūī and other native birdlife.
Perfect for mass planting, feature gardens, containers and low-maintenance landscapes, Phormium ‘Yellow Wave’ delivers bold colour with very little effort.
