Pot Size/Grade

Peach 'Gordon's Glory' is a classic New Zealand favourite, producing generous crops of large, golden-fleshed peaches with a rich, sweet flavour and juicy texture. Ripening in late summer, this reliable variety has earned its reputation as an outstanding home orchard peach, perfect for fresh eating, bottling, baking and preserving.

The fruit develops an attractive golden-yellow skin heavily blushed with red, while the firm, juicy flesh delivers the traditional peach flavour many gardeners remember. As a freestone variety, the flesh separates easily from the stone when ripe, making preparation quick and easy for preserving or enjoying straight from the tree.

In spring, the tree is covered in masses of beautiful soft pink blossoms that attract bees and other beneficial pollinators before giving way to lush green foliage and a heavy summer crop. Like all deciduous peaches, it also provides attractive autumn colour before entering winter dormancy.

Productive, self-fertile and easy to grow, Peach 'Gordon's Glory' is an excellent choice for home orchards throughout New Zealand, delivering reliable harvests of delicious peaches year after year.

How to establish your Peach Gordons Glory?

Position
Plant in a warm, sunny, sheltered location where the tree receives at least six hours of direct sunlight each day. Full sun encourages better flowering, sweeter fruit and heavier crops.
Soil
Grow in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost or well-rotted organic matter. Avoid poorly drained sites, as peaches dislike wet feet.
Watering
Water regularly during establishment and throughout dry periods, particularly while fruit is developing. Consistent moisture will improve fruit size and quality.
Feeding
Apply a balanced fruit tree fertiliser in early spring to encourage healthy growth and strong fruit production. An annual application of compost or organic mulch will help maintain healthy soil.
Spacing
Allow approximately 4m between trees to provide good airflow and sufficient room for the canopy to develop.

How to maintain your Peach Gordons Glory once established?

Prune annually during winter to maintain an open vase-shaped framework that allows sunlight and air to penetrate the canopy. Remove dead, damaged or crossing branches and thin overcrowded growth to encourage healthy fruiting wood.
If the tree sets an exceptionally heavy crop, thin the developing fruit to improve the size and quality of the remaining peaches while reducing stress on the branches.
Mulch around the base each spring to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch clear of the trunk.
