Osmanthus Fragrans Aurantiacus
Osmanthus Fragrans Aurantiacus
Fragrant Tea Olive, Orange Sweet Olive
Osmanthus Fragrans Aurantiacus, the temple tree from China has upright growth and the most deliciously scented flowers in autumn. The masses of tiny orange/white flowers have a very sweet juicy-fruit gum scent that is enchanting.
Osmanthus fragrans ‘Aurantiacus’, commonly known as Orange Sweet Olive, is one of those plants that quietly steals the show. While its glossy evergreen foliage creates a tidy and elegant backdrop year-round, it’s the fragrance that truly makes this plant unforgettable.
In autumn and early winter, clusters of tiny orange flowers appear along the stems, releasing an intensely sweet apricot-like perfume that can drift through the garden and stop people in their tracks. Don’t let the small flowers fool you — this plant punches well above its weight when it comes to scent.
Perfect for planting near entrances, patios, pathways or outdoor living spaces where the fragrance can be fully appreciated. With its dense evergreen growth and refined appearance, it also works beautifully as a hedge, screen or specimen shrub in both formal and cottage-style gardens.
Despite its elegant look, this is a hardy and relatively low-maintenance shrub well suited to New Zealand gardens.
Please note these plants are bagged into a 10L pot and we very well rooted, the crop height ranges from 70cm to 110cm.
