Obelisk Willow Weaving Workshop

The CJs team is delighted to welcome Tamar Guse of Amberley Willow Farm for a creative 3.5-hour willow-weaving workshop.

Learn to weave your own beautiful obelisk plant support using locally grown willow. Both decorative and practical, your finished obelisk will add natural character to your garden while supporting climbing plants as they grow.

During the workshop, Tamar will show you how to construct the upright frame and weave a spiral three-rod wale—a traditional technique that gives the obelisk strength, structure and style. She’ll guide you through every step, whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some willow-weaving experience.

Willow weaving is a wonderfully tactile and meditative craft that offers a chance to slow down, work with natural materials and connect with a time-honoured tradition.

• Secateurs
• A sunhat and water bottle—we’ll work outside if the weather permits
• A kneeling garden pad, if you’d like one
• A vehicle long enough to transport your finished obelisk home

Please note

This is a hands-on workshop involving some standing and moving around. A little hand strength is required when working with the willow.
