Lychnis Alba
Lychnis Alba
Rose Campion, Silene coronaria 'Alba'
ROSE CAMPION is a beaut with its silver-grey, furry leaves and white flowers that show up through summer. It grows up to about 60cm and sits well in mixed borders. Needs a sunny spot and good drainage to thrive.
Being a biennial, it spends its first year growing leaves before flowering the next. It’ll happily drop seeds to keep coming back, but if it pops up where you’re not keen, it’s easy enough to pull out. With soft, silvery leaves and loose white flowers around 3cm wide, it fits right into rock gardens, cottage plots, or wildflower patches. It’s a favourite of our local pollinators and isn’t fussed about a bit of shade. We like planting it under roses to cover their leggy stems!
